Welcome to the Vermont Covered Bridge Society Lost Bridge Tour. At one time as many as 700-800 bridges were located in the state. Time, natural disasters, fires and "progress" are some of the factors that have reduced the current number of covered bridges to around 100 in number. The information here is provided by Covered Spans of Yesteryear. This website was started in 2005 to document "lost" covered bridges across the county around the world. We thank Bill Caswell and company for letting us use this information.
The Google Map County Lines website by Randy Majors was invaluable in positioning bridge locations within the county by GPS coordinates. Also the VTRANS County/Town Series 2017 was a very helpful resource.
The map below will give an interactive experience with the lost covered bridges in each of the counties. Select the county of interest and you will be on your way to learning about the bridge in question.
