The Keating's Visit Florence's Ponte Vecchio

Tom and Liz Keating

Tom and Liz Keating have been contributing pictures of covered bridges over the years with us. Here are some from their latest on their visit to the Ponte Vecchio in Florence, Italy.

May 6, 2019: My wife and I went on a cruise in May of 2014. We stopped in Florence, where I took these pictures of Ponte Vecchio. It's not listed in the WGCB, but is is covered and historic. This fall we plan to visit Venice and see the Rialto Bridge.

Editors note: According to numerous sources, the Ponte Vecchio is the oldest bridge in Florence dating back to the 14th century. The Ponte Vecchio, or Old Bridge, spans the Arno. This was the only bridge across the Arno that was not destroyed in World War II. The visit Florence website has a nice history of this truely historic bridge. Thanks to the Keating's for sharing these pictures with us.
