August 22, 2022: James Crouse has made us aware of the Cades Mill covered bridge being placed on the "10 most endangered" list of propertiers in Indiana. James has also shared that "There is a fund at the Western Indiana Community Foundation. I have pasted information below which you may wish to share and/or to use for any donation toward the stabilization and restoration of both of the endangered Fountain County bridges."

The purpose of the Cades Mill and Wallace Covered Bridge Pass-Through Fund is to provide for the maintenance, repair and restoration of the Cades Mill and Wallace Covered Bridge and to promote the historical or architectural significance of the bridge to the community, thus promoting an appreciation of community history to the educational benefit of the general public.

The Cades Mill Covered Bridge (WGN 14-23-02) is located in Veedersburg in Fountain County. The bridge was built in 1854 to cross Coal Creek. It is has a floor length of 150 feet and a roofline of 158 feet. It was built with a Howe truss.
