West Dummerston Bridge Damaged

November 12, 2020: Kristopher Radder, of the Brattleboro Reformer, has reported that the The West Dummerston Covered Bridge has been damaged in a "hit and run" accident.

The east end of the bridge was hit by what would appear to be an oversized vehicle. No other details were known at the time that the article was published.

The West Dummerston bridge was originally built in 1872 with a Town lattice truss across the West River. The bridge was renovated in 1998. At 280 feet, it is the longest covered bridge within the state of Vermont's borders.
