May 9, 2020 - Hi,
I have done an exam of the recent news about Quebec’s cbs and here's what I can say.
The Bolduc Bridge (61-06-02) had been by passed in 2014. In 2019 the Bolduc family met a the bridge for a dedication and presentation of new exhibits in the bridge.
An other by passed bridge is the Chute Neigette Bridge (61-58-03). Now part of a rest area the bridge is no longer over the water.
The Caron Bridge (61-40-04) has been restored in 2019 ; new floor, new siding, and new color.
Very special job done at the Louis-Gravel Bridge (61-62-01). Even if very high over the water the bridge is regularly threatened at the spring flood. The bridge have been raised and a ditch dig to bypass an abutment and make room for overflow. A foredeck have been added to reach the bridge.
A restoration project started in 2018 for 2 years at the Félix-Gabriel-Marchand Bridge (61-53-01) have been delayed for spring flood and now covid 19. This is a $5 millions project probably completed in spring 2021.
Post cards: I have edited 24 post cards for our bridges never seen on post cards. +-20 available for each bridge.
Finally, Canada Post has released permanent stamps for 5 Canadian covered bridges. 2 from Quebec. See Canada Post web site for details.
Hope this is OK for you.
Have a nice day,
Gérald Arbour
