Update on Blair Bridge Damage
On December 15, 2020 at approximately 1:50PM a 2017 Hino box truck drove across the Blair Bridge disregarding the posted height and weight limits and damaged 17 wooden braces and then left the scene. The company and driver involved have since been identified by Campton Police and are cooperating with the investigation. Charges are anticipated to be filed once the investigation is complete.
This is the second such hit and run accident in a month involving an oversized vehicle on the Blair Bridge. In the prior incident that occurred on November 17th the driver has been arrested and is facing several charges to include negligent driving, operating without a valid license, criminal mischief, and conduct after an accident (hit and run).
The Bridge is currently open and safe for travel, however it will likely need to be closed for a brief period of time for repairs. The Police Department will put out a notification when the repairs and closure are scheduled.
-Chief Foss
According to the Town of Campton website, the bridge will be closed from February 1 - 3 for repairs.
