January 7, 2020: Anita Larkin Ford has passed along this information from The Monroe County Appeal website. The Union Covered Bridge in Monroe County has been vandalized with graffiti.
The incident occurred on December 31, 2019. Officials are requesting help from the public to identify those involved. The Missouri State Park Rangers have released pictures of the suspects captured from survailance cameras.
The World Guide to Covered Bridges lists the bridge as a single span Burr Arch. It was built in 1871 and measures 125 feet in length. The bridge crosses the Elk Fork Salt River in Paris Township.
