Roddy Road Covered Bridge Closed - Weight Warning Portal Damaged

September 24, 2020 Thurmont, MD - Anita Larkin Ford has passed along this information from the 930 WFMD.com website. Kevin McManus has written a story letting us know that the Roddy Road Covered Bridge has been closed. An "over-weight warning portal" was damaged on Wednesday evening prompting the closure of the bridge.

Although the road will stay closed until the damaged portal is repaired, there was no damage to the bridge.

The Roddy Road Covered Bridge (20-10-02#2) crosses Owens Creek in the Frederick County town of Thurmont. The bridge is 39 feet long and uses a Kingpost truss. It was built in 2017 and replaced the original bridge which was built around 1850.
