August 25, 2020: James Crouse and Cheri Bushee have passed along this information from the Star website. Kathryn Bassett is reporting that the plans are beginning to take place for the work on the Spencerville bridge.

A "start-up meeting" will take place on Wednesday August 26th. Commissioner Don Grogg says that "the county expects to release bid packets to contractors to perform the repairs in the next two months. Once contracts are awarded, work is expected to take place during the winter."

The Spencerville or Coburn Covered Bridge (WGN 14-17-01) is located east of Spencerville in DeKalb County. The bridge was built in 1873 to cross the St. Joseph River. It is 160 feet long and uses a Smith #4 truss.
