October 26, 2020: Anita Larkin Ford has passed along this article from the The Star website. Dave Kurtz is reporting that the bids to repair the Spencerville Covered Bridge hav been opened.
A total of four bids were received for the repairs. The bids for the work ranged from a low of $269,000 to a high of $877,848. A 2019 estimate for repairs by USI Engineers was almost $274,000. The bids will be reviewed over the next two weeks.

The Spencerville Covered Bridge (WGN 14-17-01) is located in Spencer Township in DeKalb County. The bridge was built in 1873 to cross the St. Joseph River. It is 160 feet long and uses a Smith Triple (#4) truss.
