Construction work continues at historic 1863 bridge

 

May 12, 2020 Anita Larkin Ford has passed along this information from the Bureau County Republican website. The website is reporting that construction continues on the Red Covered Bridge.

The work involves replacing the I-beams and decking.

The Red Covered bridge (WGN 13-06-01) is located in the Bureau County town of Dover. The 93 foot long Howe truss bridge was built in 1863 to cross the Big Bureau Creek.
