Alabama's Second Oldest Covered Bridge

Google map of Alabama with seal

April 23, 2020: Anita Larkin Ford has passed along this information from the AL.com website. Kelly Kazek has written a story on the Waldo or Riddle's Mill Covered Bridge. This is the second oldest covered bridge in Alabama.

The bridge, which was built in 1850, is now privately owned.

Over its lifetime the bridge had a grist mill as a neighbor and provided access to a nearby gold mine. It also provided passage during the Civil War.

Today the bridge stands in poor shape and is in danger of collapse since it is no longer maintained.

Our thanks to Anita Larkin-Ford for sharing the story.
