Bill Caswell, president of the National Society for the Preservation of Covered Bridges, has informed us that Devin Colman's presentation on Nicols Powers is now available online. The video was recorded on May 4th at the Norman Williams Library in Woodstock, Vermont by Woodstock Community Television during the May meeting.
Devin recently had the unique opportunity to explore the family home of Nichols Powers. During the presentation he describes some of his unique findings. The attic was a treasure trove of artifacts dating back to the time when Powers was active as a covered bridge builder. This is definately worth the time to see what Devin presents.
Devin is currently the Architectural Historian for the State of Vermont. Nichols Powers was a prolific covered bridge builder in nineteenth century Vermont and beyond. A number of his bridges are still standing and in use today.
