Jackson covered bridge ends '19 with a bang

December 30, 2019 The Jackson Covered Bridge almost made it thru 2019 without incident. However, an oversized box truck put an end to that streak.

The Conway Daily Sun published an article by Tom Eastman describing the accident. Apparently the driver was led thru the bridge by his GPS. Not surprisingly, this damaged the bridge. As bad as that was, it was not the end of the story. Unfortunately the drivers GPS redirected him to go back thru the bridge!

The World Guide to Covered Bridges lists the bridge as a single span Paddleford & Arch. It was built in 1876 and measures 121 feet in length. The bridge crosses the Ellis River in Jackson Township.
