December 5, 2019: The Bridgeport Covered Bridge, in the South Yuba River State Park, has been undergoing a restoration for the past six months. Bridgewright Will Truax has been involved in the project since the beginning.

Here is the November update from Herb Lindberg:

This is the sixth month of work restoring the covered bridge at Bridgeport in South Yuba River State Park, CA. The Mabey bridge constructed in September was used to hang shoring platform (scaffolding) beams below Wood's 1862 covered bridge. All of the beams that could be installed with telescoping lifts in the river bed were installed in October. In November:

  1. Shoring beams farther out toward each end of the bridge were installed from the bridge.
  2. Begin south-shore coffer dam to strengthen current abutments and raised abutment.
  3. Begin to install jack housings and hanger rods on upper cross beams, already in place on Mabey bridge bottom chords.
  4. Begin to build work platforms on lower cross beams.
