July 23, 2019: James Crouse has informed us that Ripley County's two covered bridges and an historic stone arch bridge have recently been added to the National Register of Historic Places.
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources announced that the two Ripley County covered bridges were added earlier in the year. The Busching (WGN 14-69-04) and the Otter Creek (WGN 14-69-02) Covered Bridges were added on March 13, 2019.
The Covered Spans of Yesteryear website notes that the Busching Bridge (WGN 14-69-04) was built in 1885. The bridge is built with a Howe truss and is located near the town of Versailles. The Otter Creek Bridge (WGN 14-69-02) was built in 1884. The bridge is built with a Howe truss and is located near the town of Holton. It has been bypassed since 1996.
