April 19, 2019: The Otter Creek Covered Bridge in Ripley County Indiana was damaged by wind this past February. An engineer with USI Consultants, Inc. reports that "Otter Creek bridge repairs are being developed and overseen by Ripley County. Repairs should be completed this summer."
This bridge was recently nominated to be listed in the National Register of Historic Place. Read the previously reported news article here: Ripley County Bridges Nominated to National Register.
The World Guide to Covered Bridges notes that the Otter Creek bridge (WGN 14-69-02) was built in 1884. The bridge is built with a Howe truss and is located near the town of Holton. It has been bypassed since 1996.
