April 7, 2015 Bend, Oregon - The privately owned covered bridge which is maintained by residents of the Rock O' the Range neighborhood was severly damaged on April 6th. The damage was extensive and will require the local residents to raise the funds for repairs. This is the third time in the last 10 years that the bridge has been damaged. Previous repairs have cost from $15,000 to $25,000.
The local sheriff's department has been investigating the damage but so far there are no leads to the person responsible for the damage.
The single lane bridge was built in 1963 with a 7 1/2 foot clearance. The Covered Bridge Society of Oregon recognizes this bridge as the only wooden coverd bridge east of the Cascades.
