Newfield, New York - The Newfield covered bridge will be closed for repairs until October 30th, 2015. According to the Tompkins County Highway Division the bridge work will include abutment stem wall replacement, drainage improvements, and fire suppression.
The Newfield bridge was built between 1851 and 1853. The span is 115 feet long and crosses the West branch of the Cayuga Inlet. During its lifetime, the bridge has undergone two renovations. The town of Newfield is located southwest of Ithica, NY.
