November 20, 2013 Lancaster County, PA - The Pinetown Road covered bridge repair project is progressing well. This week the trusses were being put into place with the aid of a large crane. Even with the use of modern technology, it's amazing to see how much work is required to locate the 133 foot trusses. The work involved when the bridge was first built and its longevity are truly a testament to its builders.
As part of the reconstruction project, the bridge has been raised 17 feet. This follows the approach taken on other covered bridge reconstruction projects in Lancaster county.
The Pinetown bridge was most recently damaged by Tropical Storm Lee in 2011. The bridge is expected to be open to traffic by years end.
