Maxwell Crossing Covered Bridge

February 19, 2013 - You may have heard that the Maxwell Crossing covered bridge in Charlotte County, New Brunswick, was severely damaged by a car that lost control on January 26th. At a public meeting on Feb. 6th, the DOT representative stated that they are considering replacing the bridge since that alternative would be cheaper than repairing it.

The residents have begun a petition drive asking the DOT to repair the bridge instead of replace it. This morning, I noticed that the local newspaper, The Saint Croix Courier, has a poll on their website about this issue - http://stcroixcourier.ca/. I am sending this note hoping that a few of you will visit the website and cast a vote towards repairing the current bridge instead of replacing it.

Also, on behalf of the NSPCB, I sent letters to Claude Williams, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure and Trevor Holder, Minister of Tourism, Heritage and Culture urging them to have damaged structure repaired.
