August 22, 2013 Vergennes Township, MI - Damaged but not destroyed. Local officials called the damage "minor" following a detailed inspection. The Fallasburg Covered Bridge survived an encounter with a cement truck carrying a total wight of 32 tons on Wednesday. The posted limit was 3 tons but apparently the driver did not pay attention to the warning. As a result of the accident the driver was issued a ticket and a large fine of $5,580. The bridge was opened the next day.
The Fallasburg bridge was built in 1871 using a Brown truss to cross the Flat River in Lowell, Michigan.
