July 25, 2013 Wabash County, IN - The North Manchester Covered Bridge is undergoing a 1.4 million dollar rehabilitation project. The details of the project were presented in a public hearing that was held in January 2012.
James Crouse reports that there is already a great amount of work done. According to James "...The siding was all removed and, as of Saturday, about 4/5 of the roof including rafters had also been removed."
The North Manchester Covered Bridge was built in 1872 employing a Smith truss. This is actually the second North Manchester Covered Bridge. North Manchester Covered Bridge #1 was built in 1850 and lost in 1857.
