November 29, 2013, Chongquig, China - The Feng Yu covered bridge was destroyed by fire on November 28th despite firefighters efforts to save the structure. At this time the cause of fire is unknown and under investigation.
The Feng Yu covered bridge was first constructed in 1591 and had been rebuilt at different times during the centuries. The longest covered bridge in Asia, measuring 303 meters, was constructed of wood without nails. The Fung Yu bridge, also known as the Luck bridge or Flower bridge, crossed the Apeng River with it's traditional pagoda-style roof.
