Dear Sir/Madam,
A new visit is essential: www.swiss-timber-bridges.ch now presents 562 bridges and walkways with more than 7800 photos, documents or plans. For each bridge, the altitude position is also indicated. The printing of the cover page of each bridge is also easier. I was able, thanks to the numerous contacts received from people in love with our heritage, to make numerous corrections to the technical data. Heritage does not mean time passed, because there are even documented bridges, which are not yet open. traffic, but already ? visit this site!
The contact received from people from Germany, the USA and especially Canada shows, that our bridges have an interest. outside our borders.

The beginning took place a day I was traveling with students from "wood school" from Bienna. We came to Aarberg and there we saw the wood bridge. We stopped to visit the bridge. None have reached restaurants and shops close to the site. We stayed at the bridge looking inside, outside, under. All of us were astonished how the work was done in the past years. There is a winch to move loads delivered by boats from the Aare.
Then I started to photograph bridges, from time to time or on planned trips. Even if I'm a skilled carpenter, I knew it was possible to learn more about wood and bridges. When I realized the treausure I had in my camera, I decided to share with others. Off the job, I wrote pages and pages, sometime it took all the night to have a story done.
Some pictures are still missing but there are over 500 pictures for bridges and footbridges for you to visit from your warm and dry office.
I hope you will have a good time exploring this website. I hope too it will be possible for you to visit some of these bridges. Very easy to find with maps and data.
Sincerely,
Werner Minder.
Note: Mr. Wender is very pleased to have comments about his website.

Subject: Wooden bridges
Concerns: http://www.swiss-timber-bridges.ch
It all started harmlessly during an excursion with students from the wood school in Biel. Our path passed via Aarberg, saw the wooden bridge. We stopped to watch it. No, we did not go to the restaurants nearby: we looked at this bridge inside, outside and from below. All were amazed how they worked in the past. There is a winch to lift the loads, which were delivered on the Aare.
Afterwards I photographed one bridge after the other occasionally or voluntarily. I realized that I could still learn well, although I feel like a seasoned carpenter! "Take care for your good" with this wealth, I could not leave only the little finger! so, I prepared documents outside of work, often overnight. Today, there are still some photos of bridges that I miss, but I decided to share this pleasure with other people.
Therefore, I have in this document more than 500 bridges and walkways, which you can visit quietly without getting wet!
I hope you enjoy exploring this website. Go see one or the other bridge on the spot. You are not disappointed. With maps and coordinates, you find them all, it's almost child's play!
With best regards,
Werner Minder.
