Cedar Swamp Bridge Renovation [WGN VT-01-01]

Repairs to the Cedar Swamp Bridge are underway by Alpine Construction, of Stillwater, N.Y., Jim Ligon, construction foreman.

Cedar Swamp Bridge, WGN 45-01-01, was built in 1865 using a Town truss to cross Otter Creek between the towns of Cornwall and Salisbury to access a railroad depot in Salisbury. The 136-foot bridge was one of the longest single spans in Vermont until 1969, when a mid-stream pier was constructed.

Both towns shareownership of the bridge, variously known as the Cedar Swamp Road Bridge, Station Bridge, and Salisbury Station Bridge.
