Joe Nelson has informed us that the Guidelines for Rehabilitating Historic Covered Bridges is now available. The guide is produced by the National Park Service, HAER, the National Park Service, Historic Preservation Training Center, and the Federal Highway Administration Research Center. The editors are by Christopher H. Marston and Thomas A. Vitanza.
Joe notes that "the manual purports to cover all of the information needed by engineers to rehab our covered bridges properly with detailed descriptions of the work done on several bridges including the Pulp Mill and the Cornish Windsor bridges. The book is an easy and entertaining read, well illustrated with photos and drawings."
Editor's note: Thanks to Joe Nelson for bringing this to our attention.
