May 7, 2020: Anita Larkin Ford has passed along this information from The Tribune-Democrat website. It is being reporting that the Pack Saddle Covered Bridge (WGN 38-56-02) has reopened following repairs as of today.
Repair work began on April 20th. The work was completed well ahead of the projected two month estimate. The cost of the repairs was a little over $120,000.
The Pack Saddle or Doc Martin bridge is 48 foot long and crosses the Brush creek in Fairhope. It was built in 1870 with a multiple kingpost truss.
